Suki Neighbors vs Viber and FB buy-and-sell group chats
The group chat proved your building wants to buy and sell food. It just makes everyone work too hard for it. Here is the honest side-by-side.

The group chat problem
Every condo and village has one: a Viber or Facebook group where neighbors post today’s ulam, baked goods, and tinda. It works - barely. The seller posts at 9 AM. By 10, the post is buried under parking complaints. A buyer asks "Meron pa po ba?" at noon and gets seen-zoned because the seller is cooking. Orders arrive in DMs, comments, and screenshots. Somebody always gets forgotten.
None of that is anyone’s fault. Chats are built for chatting. Selling needs a shelf, a price tag, a queue, and a receipt.
Side by side
| Group chat | Suki Neighbors | |
|---|---|---|
| Finding what's for sale | Scroll and pray - posts sink under every new message | A feed of listings with photos, prices, categories, and search |
| "Meron pa po ba?" | Ask and wait for the seller to notice | Live stock counts down per order; sold out marks itself |
| Freshness | Last week's posts float around forever | Listings expire after 12 hours - everything you see was posted today |
| Ordering | DMs, comments, screenshots, and "mine!" | Cart and checkout: ASAP, scheduled, or pickup, in about a minute |
| Payment | GCash screenshots lost in the thread | Buyer picks the seller's method, scans their QR, uploads the receipt on the order |
| Tracking | "Nasaan na po?" in the chat | Live status from confirmed to delivered, with notifications |
| Trust | Reputation lives in people's memory | Ratings after every order, seller replies, Verified and Official badges |
| Seller's workload | Copy-paste menus, track orders in a notebook | Order queue, sales analytics, unpaid tracker, free boosts |
| Who can see it | Anyone an admin ever approved, forever | Public, unlisted, or private with an invite code - members-only ordering |
What the group chat is still better at
Being a group chat. Announcements, chika, asking who else heard the videoke at 2 AM - that is what chats are for, and Suki does not try to replace them. The two work together: sellers post on Suki, then drop the listing link in the chat. The chat brings the eyeballs; the storefront takes the orders without losing any.
If you run the group
Group admins are the unpaid customer service desk of every buy-and-sell thread. Suki gives you the same role with actual tools:
- Create your community and you are its manager - no application, no fee.
- Set house rules members agree to before joining.
- Warn or suspend problem sellers instead of chasing drama in DMs.
- Feature one store on the community page - the gold card is yours to award.
- Keep the community private with an invite code, so it stays neighbors-only.
The playbook for moving a group chat to a real marketplace - including the invite message to post - is in the pioneer guide.
Common questions
Do we have to leave our Viber or FB group?
No. Keep the chat for chatting. Sellers post listings on Suki and share the link into the group - orders, stock, and payments happen on the listing instead of in the thread.
Is Suki free like a group chat?
Yes. Free for buyers, free for sellers, no commission on sales. Buyers pay sellers directly, exactly like in the group chat - just organized.
Can we keep it private to our building?
Yes. Communities can be private with an invite code, or unlisted so only people with the link find them. Managers approve join requests, and ordering is members-only.
What happens to sellers who misbehave?
Community managers can warn, suspend, or reinstate sellers, and buyers can report listings to platform admins. Ratings do the rest - your reputation follows your store.
